What can I do at Cape Byron Distillery Cellar Door?

Cape Byron Distillery sits in the heart of our rainforest overlooking our working macadamia farm.

At Cape Byron we have a beautiful Cellar Door Bar space and covered outdoor verandah with table and barrel seating for small and large groups.

We have a full cocktail list and you can buy local produce at the cellar door to make up your own grazing plate or snacks.

You can choose your own experience at Cape Byron Distillery. For first time visitors we recommend our Rainforest Tour and tasting experience lasting about 1hr 15 mins.

If you’re short on time, you can enjoy our signature cocktails, gin or whisky flights at your table.

Whether it’s raining or the sun is shining, you can enjoy our Cellar Door and stock up at our shop with gifts, merchandise and bottles on you way home.

When is the Distillery/Cellar Door open?

Thursday - Sunday, 10:45am to 6:00pm. Enquire regarding public holidays.

Can I just drop in for a drink or do need to have an appointment?

We welcome drop-ins but its best to phone ahead so we can reserve a table for you.

How do I get to Cape Byron Distillery

Address: 80 St. Helena Drive McLeods Shoot, NSW, 2479
- How to find us on Google maps Apple Maps

From Byron Town Centre:
- Take Ewingsdale Rd and follow the signs to 'Hinterland Way' &
Bangalow - Continue on Hinterland Way for 2km
- Turn left onto St Helena Rd & follow this road 800m to Cape Byron Distillery entrance on the right.

From Lennox/Ballina:
- From the M1 northbound take the exit towards Byron Bay
Rd/Bangalow - At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Hinterland Way and continue for 4.8km
- Turn right onto St. Helena Rd & follow this road 800m to Cape Byron Distillery entrance on the right.

From Gold Coast:
- From the M1 Southbound take the exit towards Ewingsdale Rd/Byron Bay/B62 - Take Hinterland Wy/B62 for 2km
- Turn left onto St Helena Rd & follow this road 800m to Cape Byron Distillery entrance on the right.

Where can I park?

Parking is available at the visitor car park beside the distillery, and we have an overflow car park which is a 3-minute walk from the distillery if the top carpark is full.

Disability Access

Disabled parking is available next to the cellar door and there is also a drop off point for others who don’t wish to walk from the car park.
The Cellar Door is wheelchair accessible however the Rainforest tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Are children allowed to visit?

All children are welcome at the distillery. Please note we don’t have a playground and due to the surroundings of our beautiful rainforest, we do not have space for children to run around.

Parents/guardians please supervise your children while on the premises.
For the tours, we do not charge for the attendance of children under 12.

Is the cellar door pet friendly?

Yes, we are pet friendly for socialised pets on leads. There is a comfortable space for your pet to relax on the balcony at the cellar door, but unfortunately they are not allowed on the rainforest tour.

Do you serve wine or beer?

Our menu focuses on showcasing the spirits we make at our distillery; we do not offer wine or beer.

How many standard drinks are included in the tour?

Our rainforest tour has a total of 2.5 standard drinks across 1.5hrs.
If you prefer not to drink, we have non-alcoholic drinks available.

I’m driving, how can I make the most of my visit?

We have mocktails and alcohol-free beverages to enjoy.

Do you do private events and corporate functions?

We provide memorable tours and tasting experiences for corporate and large groups to reserve a table or as a private experience.

Do you have food?

We don’t have a restaurant on site, but we do have the best of local produce available for purchase to enjoy – make your own platter from our Cellar Door shop.

Can I give your Cellar Door Tours as a gift?

You can purchase gift certificates using our online booking system here.

Is there a dress code?

All are welcome at Cape Byron. If you’re attending a tour, be mindful that a portion of the tour is walking through our regenerated rainforest, so please wear something comfortable to walk in.

Do you allow decorations for private functions?

Decorations will have to be approved by our Cellar Door manager prior to arrival and be eco-friendly and compostable.

What if the date I want to attend isn’t on the book now list?

If it's a date within the next few weeks, it means it's sold out. Tours can sell out a few weeks in advance. If you are looking at dates well in advance, we do not release bookings until a few months before the date.
