Slow, wins Best in Show at the 2020 USA Spirit Ratings!
Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin has done it again, taking home both GOLD and BEST IN SHOW for Australian Gin at the 2020 USA Spirit Ratings.
Ranked on quality of spirit, value, and packaging, the USA Spirit Ratings assess the product’s trade performance and consumer appeal with separate weighted scores given for each of the three categories.
The quality score carries twice the weight of the other two categories and considers how enjoyable the spirit is overall. This includes the appearance, aroma, body, taste, and, the all-important, aftertaste of the spirit. There’s also a chemical analysis linked to the category, and with Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin made from 100% natural and locally sourced ingredients, it’s little wonder it blitzed the competition in this area.
Up next is the value score, which judges the quality relative to the product’s price. If the judges are inclined to think the spirit offers excellent value the score should be close to perfect.
The final category, packaging, judges the label, bottle colour, shape, and closure. The primary purpose of packaging is to protect and transport the spirit from the distillery to your drinking place of choice, whether that be a bar, restaurant, or living room. However, for most consumers it’s the deciding factor of whether you remove an item from your local bottle shop’s shelf or leave it to collect dust and eventually head for the SALE bin.
And it’s not just Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin whose star is on the rise. Mac. by Brookie’s also returned home with GOLD, while Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin received SILVER (just one point shy from earning GOLD).
