Raising funds for Melbourne’s hospitality industry to aid in the lockdown recovery
After 112 days of lockdown, Melbourne flung open the doors of their cafes, bars, restaurants, and pubs as they were finally allowed to trade (somewhat close to) normal again. In a matter of minutes, restaurants and bars were booked out for weeks in advance. But while on the surface it seems the venues are flourishing, there’s still a long road to recovery ahead.
Over the first weekend of November, Brookie’s joined forced with Tip Jar Fund to raise much-needed funds to aid those affected by the COVID restrictions, with $1 from every drink sold from the Cellar Door donated to the charity.
The Tip Jar funds go directly to those in the industry that need it most, with monies raised being split between; Street Smart, Scarf, Operation Thank You and COVID-19 EAD.
While it’s wonderful to see our Victorian friends out and about enjoying their favourite watering holes and local haunts, we must remind everyone that the culinary capital of Australia has not yet seen all of the flow-on effects of COVID-19. So, if you can spare $10, we highly encourage you to donate to Tip Jar Fund!
We all love to wine, dine, and kick-back with a cocktail – now more than ever it’s not something we will ever take for granted.
